Ode to Mother Earth
by Brahm Stuart
Visions of the Sun as one as I am climbing up the ladder,
Visions of the Moon as I am standing all alone.
Look around, what can be found?
The signs that we must learn to master,
Look around and round and round, as life goes spiraling on.
Hear the wind speak of where he's been,
As he winds around the designs of the world;
See the walls hemming round so tall,
We could make them fall if we'd just say the word.
Listen to the sound of laughter wafting 'cross an open pasture,
See the green that gently waves beneath the passing breeze;
See the animals together, all the birds of different feathers,
See the dragon's breathing fire reach up for the sky.
Hear the roar of the sea that pours,
Up against your shores, wearing down the sands of time;
See the tree spreading forth his leaves,
As he always breathes, giving air for our life.
Deep beneath the mountains old, the lead is turning into gold,
As carbon in your furnace into diamonds crystallize,
There's fungus breaking down your trees,
But in your flowers buzzing bees,
The evergreen stands tall and proud upon your mountain strong.
Hear the wind speak of where he's been,
As he winds into the canyons of our minds;
See the Sun, the life giving one,
As he always shines, giving light to your skies.
