Shaman
The Green Man, Live! Hobbit Day "92, and Dans Mediterraneo

Shaman's tapestry of sound weaves together an astounding variety of styles combining Celtic instrumentals, Mediterranean Gypsy songs, otherworldly ballads, and passionate pagan pixie music into three wondrously whimsical casssettes. Shaman features Brahm Stuart on fiddle, vocals and guitar; Deirdre Stuart on vocals, guitar and mandolin and Debora Thomas on flute. Their eclectic blend of traditional Irish and Scottish ballads, original lyrics and compositions are reminiscent of early Incredible String Band and Fairport Convention. Their bardic brew of lilting instrumentals and poetic imagery blends archetypal and fantastical themes with sacred Earth consciousness. In songs like "Ode to Mother Earth" Brahm speaks to the deep longing for connection with nature and ourselves. Other favorites include a lively version of the traditional Scottish ballad, "Raggle Taggle Gypsies" on The Green Man featuring Brahm's impassioned fiddle playing, and "Pan," which combines traditional Irish music with a more holistic look into the origins of the deep woods trickster. All three of Shaman's recordings/cassettes are self-produced and are testimony to the consistent quality of their musical breadth.
